Valter, bikes are allowed on inter-city buses, as space permits. A few days ago we tried to use the bus without our bikes for the short trip from Ein Boqeq to Masada. This was the bus that runs from Eilat to Jerusalem. The bus was overfull with people sitting on the floor and the driver wouldn't allow anyone else on. I imagine the luggage area was full as well. All that leads us to be unsure that we would be able to get on a bus from here with our bikes. Finally, we have a 7am flight on Thursday, which means we need to be at the airport by 4:30 or 5am, and I have no idea if there is a bus that would get us to the airport that early. So, renting the car is certainly a much larger expense that the bus but it gives us peace of mind that we can get there on time.

Since you are using rental cars to transport your bicycles, I suppose that train or busses do not allow them on board, do they? Thank you very much for sharing your adventurese with us!

Paul, I'm not sure how fast we were going. My bike computer stopped working a few days ago, though I would never look at it while going full-speed downhill anyway. My guess is we were going somewhere around 55 - 66 km/h, and luckily the traffic wasn't going any faster.

Valter, in the city, especially Tel Aviv, lots of people bicycle, but they mostly cycle on the sidewalks. Out on the roads between towns we have seen cyclists three times, and each time they were large groups of club cyclists, all riding in their club jerseys mostly in double pace-lines. We haven't sen any cycle tourists, and indeed we are treated as a great oddity wherever we stop for the evening.

Nice, I always wanted to float in the Dead Sea too. How was it? Lots of rain here in NJ,but it looks like you have escaped that part of bike touring. Just how fast were you going to keep up with the traffic on the downhill? Keep safe .

Wow, that reads like quite a trying day between the traffic, flat and upgrade, all at the end of the day too! Guess bike lanes are not popular in that part of the world. You will do well to soak for 2 days, I'm enjoying your journey immensely, keep on having fun and be safe.

So the hotel in Neve must be owned by the brother in Metula. Your meal was songood and cheap be figured he would make up for it by suggesting a place he knew about to stay.

It does sound like a fun trip. You won't get that weight off by pushing your bike so much. Jodi is going to have to start peddling ahead so you have to ride to catch her. You can run Mt Washington you can ride up a small hill in the Middle East. Stereotyping Americans as out of shape.
